Israeli artist, illustrator and cartoonist, was born in Philadelphia, PA, USA in 1949. He studied at Solomon Schechter Day School and Akiba Hebrew Academy, beginning his art studies at UC Berkeley before deciding to move to Israel in 1970, where he completed his studies at the Bezalel Academy of Art. Though best known as the artist of the Jerusalem Report since its first issue in 1990, he has also illustrated dozens of childrens' books--including the prize-winning King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, Princess Alopecia, and My Travels with Alex--schoolbooks, and book covers, as well as newspaper and magazine articles. He has created comic strips, TV animation and multimedia titles and has exhibited one-man shows of his paintings and illustrations in Israel and the USA and participated in group shows around the world. He is currently working with Gil Troy on the 'Timeline' project, a history of the Jewish people in text and pictures. Katz lives in Ramat-Gan near Tel Aviv; he is married and has three sons. |
